Circle Of Life - More Information About The Pandas.

Yoo Hammies; in this blog, I will be talking about the pandas I mentioned in my 2nd blog in much more detail.

#1. What do the pandas look like ?

Can I have some of your fruitcake? ^^

Both Giant and Qinling pandas have a patterned fur of both black and white around their eyes, ears, legs, shoulders and back.  They have a LOT of molar teeth to be able to crush the bamboo.  These giant pandas grow up to 150 cm long, an adult can weigh up to 100 – 150 Kg!. They are really heavy… Good for weightlifting I guess. JOKE!

#2. Where do Pandas live?

Wonderful, isn't it?

All pandas live in bamboo forests in the high mountains of  China. Mostly in the Minshan and Qinling mountains ( that’s were the Qinling pandas got their name).

#3. Do pandas have any enemies?

Lovely..

Pandas are very peaceful however, they have a few enemies… that kill pandas. These are Leopards and Jackals. They eat the cubs.  Are you wondering if they will fight back? well, if there are no other options to escape, they will definitely fight back.   They show their aggression by lowering their heads and stare directly at the enemy.  They might look so adorable, but they are as strong as any other bears. So watch out haters! ;]

#4. What do Pandas eat ?

Ohh! Bamboo!

Its simples, everybody knows : Bamboo.

Except for bamboos,  Pandas also eat small rodents and fruits.  Everyday, pandas have to eat 12 – 38 kg to get the energy they need.

#5. Are pandas sociable to other pandas?

L O V E

Well, pandas are very relaxed and they don’t mostly socialize with each other.  Actually, Pandas are classified as one of the anti – social animals.  When a male panda would like to win over the heart of the female panda, it would take a LOT of TIME.  As in like 5 – 6 years of wait!  Also this male panda might not be the only one who fell in love with the same female panda.. That means they all have to fight and the best male panda wins the female’s heart.  But, it can be the other way round… The male panda can be the playboy.   He might aim for different females every time.  These pandas mostly fall in love and produce babies  during spring.  Between the month of March to June.  The longest time pandas can only socialize is up to either 2 – 4 days and that’s it!  Oh. I nearly forgot, Pandas can only produce 1 cub normally.

#6.  New Born Babies

Baby P!

The mother panda has to wait at least 95 – 100 days for a baby cub to be born.  When these baby cubs are born, they are known as the smallest mammal  in the world?  They weigh up to 5oz and they are the size to a stick of a butter! Aren’t they really small!? If you have big hands,  I bet you, that might look like a giant for them… O.o

After 8 weeks of entering the big world, these cubs still can’t open their eyes.  It would take about 3 months to be able to open their eyes and form black and white patches and some fur.  But these little babies still need their mommy till 1.  Like c’mon every baby does need their mummy.

In the age of 2, these babies are fully grown and ready to leave their mommy and travel with their adventurous life on their own.

#7. How many pandas are left in the wild?

Mummy?

Hmm…. Well in 2004, they said there are 1,600 pandas left…. So now it should be roughly 100 – 800 pandas left.  I’m not sure though…

BUT, let me tell you this, it’s decreasing and it is near to extinction…

Well, I hope this is enough information for you ^^.

If not, then ask the help of GoOgLe. I’m joking.

Panda Facts.

Hola Hammies! How are you? :]

How much do you know about Pandas? Did you know there are different types of Pandas? If you don’t, this post will tell you simple facts about these pandas so  keep reading this blog… ^^

There are different types of Pandas.  There are the Giant panda, Qinling pandas and the Red pandas.

Let's start with the well known adventurous panda - The Giant Pandas.
These creatures are the big ones...

Who Wants Apples?

·     The giant pandas (AKA for the Chinese people; Da xiong mao meaning giant bear cat) are originated from central and south western of China & the north of Vietnam.

·     These wonderful creatures are the symbolism of peace to China.

·     Giant pandas have black patches at their back, their black rounded ears and around their eyes.  The panda’s eyes are vertical slits; this is because they are nocturnal animals which they have a great ability to see in the dark.

·     They have very sharp senses - hearing and smell.  They have big (molar) teeth which allow them to easily crush bamboos.

·     Their throat and their stomach has a thick and tough lining to prevent splinters.

·     They are always either relaxed or eating. They might appear to be always calm, but they are great tree climbers and powerful swimmers!- who’s a swimmer out there? Thumbs UP! :]].

Aren't they interesting facts? ^^

Now, let's go to the adorable red pandas (you know RED is may favourite colour! )

         Look at their Hazel eyes..

·     Red pandas are the mini red version of the giant pandas, they are related to Giant pandas and Racoons. That’s why they got the racoon’s tail.

·     They are the size of a house cat. They have a bushy tail which they use to wrap around their body as their blankets.

·     They live in the same place as the giant pandas, they are also found in the high mountains of Nepal.

·     They spend their day living in the trees.

·     Like the giant pandas, these pandas like bamboos. But they also LOVE fruits, roots and all those kind of stuff.

·     They are shy (like me). :]

Aren’t they cute?!?

& the last of all, gorgeous little pandas.. The Qinling Pandas!

Isn't he Cutee!! - Fung Hu.

  • They are the baby version of the Giant Pandas.
  • They have a smaller and rounder head, they have a very large teeth.
  • They have the same colour and texture of fur as the Giant pandas.
  • They are found in the Qinling Mountains, where they are protected against poachers.
  • There are roughly 200 - 300 Qinling pandas left around the world. They are near to extinction.

Qinling Pandas are the babies! They are so Freaking Cutee! :]
